Local Sourcing

Local sourcing refers to agri-business companies in developing countries that source their food inputs locally and sell their end product to the domestic market.  Local sourcing is an opportunity for companies that want to ensure sustainable supply and reduce costs by substituting imports.

The main question that the organizing partners of Local-Sourcing.com aim to answer is: How can local sourcing contribute to local economic development and provide a business opportunity at the same time?

This site provides:

► A broad selection of  free-access resources in relation to local sourcing, with a focus on African countries (a dossier compiled by Information & Library Services of the Royal Tropical Institute);

►The opportunity to share your questions in relation to local sourcing, the challenges and opportunities and to receive replies from the community (still under construction).
